Hi,

I meet some issues with the component. After to have optimized all images I found that some images have increased in dimension (screenshot 1, 2, 3), a lot of images appears as optimized to 0% (screenshot 4) but after to have reverse them it's possible optimize manually.

So, it seems that the component doesn't work well.

Unfortunatly it's impossible to add other screenshot

Is it possible to fix the component?

Kind Regards

Hi,
Our component will not increase the size of images.
At worst it will produce an image with the same size.

Your images are in a folder called xt adaptative, from what I see from the XT Adaptative images extension it creates images on the fly depending on the user.
I think that the images have been processed by ImageRecycle then XT Adaptative Images have created a new version of the image.
The calculus made by our component is in this case is wrong, because it doesn't know that the image have been replaced with a non optimized version.
I don't really get why it would overwrite files, but it seems to be the issue you encounter.

Please check if all the images you have a problem with are in the xt adaptative folder?
If so you may check if you can disable file overwriting.

Our extension doesn't have the ability to check if already optimized images have been overwrote or not.

Also we have a dedicated support system, please open a ticket if you need further assistance https://www.imagerecycle.com/my-account/support-ticket

Hi Damien, thank you for your answer.

I'm investigating about the issue related to XT Adaptative images but there are other issues.

The component find well the images according the configuration but doesn't optimize the images from some specific folder, like cache/mod_roksprocket/ where I have to reverse and than optimize manually.

Please look the screenshots and let me know if you have some suggestions

Kind Regards

Hi,

Seems to be the same thing.
This is a cache folder, it means that the files inside this folder may be removed and overwrote by the extension that manage it.

Generally you should avoid trying to optimize images that are regenerated frequently, it will decrease your quota too quickly.
In this case you have to make sure the original image is optimized.

I would recommend to deactivate all that king of feature if this not needed for a good reason.
An image once uploaded on a website is not intended to change, there is no reason to overwrite it again and again and it may prevent your users's browser use images in cache.

Thank you Damien.

The images in the cache folders are the thumbnails generated by different extensions who fetch the images from the content folders and resize them without any compression.

So, when I check the pages with Page Speed, I see that the images in the cache folders have need to be compressed

Which is the best practice to do this?

The extensions you use must throw a onContentPrepare event when they change an image, like Joomla do when you upload a new media.
This is most of the time not the case.

In this case if you set the "optimize on upload" option on ImageRecycle main settings it should optimize the images on the fly.

Otherwise there is currently no solution for this case.

Best regards.

There isn't any "optimize on upload" option, maybe you meaning "Optimize media on saving" but I choosed this option as first step

Hi, we also have some images Optimized at 0% but the're no options to optimize them at all.. or revert them to original

How can we find all the images with status Optimized at 0% and how can we optimize them

Is there a special chmod for the maps on the server needed.

Why are there not always options to revert the image to original and compress them back again when images are Optimized at 0%?

Hi,
This is most of the time because the images are overwritten by another plugin.
Make sure to don't optimize a cache folder with ImageRecycle or you'll have this problem.

Reverting an image is only available during 1 month, maybe this optimization has been made more than 1 month ago.

For all technical issues please open a support ticket, we'll help you to solve it.
