So the optimization only occurs on upload right? What about the crontab option, can you provide more details on that?

Yes, you can setup optimization delay after upload: 1', 5'... (see attached).
or use your own cron task with delay you want.

If you want to optimize before publication you can use the option "optimize media on saving" (be ceraful it may take more time to save contents.

If you select AJAX it's automatic depending of the delay you've setup: 1', 5'...
If you select Crontab you need to setup a cron task on your server, after that it's automatic depending of the delay of your cron task

To activate the Crontab: select Crontab in the list option then add a cron task in our hosting service panel using the URL: {domain}/index.php?option=com_imagerecycle&task=image.optimizeAll
